What is the application process like?
Easy as pie. Once you complete the short online form, the Board of Directors will review your application and notify you of their decision via email. We do our best to respond within two weeks. If you are accepted, you will be prompted to pay your dues through PayPal. Then, start enjoying your membership! You will receive a membership card in the mail. In the meantime, be on the lookout for the monthly newsletter with information about upcoming events.
How long is my membership valid?
One year from the date you activate your membership (read: pay your dues). It is renewable each year as long as you continue to meet our eligibility criteria.
How do I renew my membership each year?
A few weeks before it expires, you will receive an email prompting you to complete the online renewal form and pay your dues for the next year.
Can I rejoin if my membership has lapsed?
Yes. You must submit a new application in order to be readmitted.
What happens if I move away from New York or take a new job outside of journalism?
We will honor your membership for the remainder of the year, but you will not be eligible to renew.
If my application is not accepted, can I reapply later?
Yes, should you come to meet our membership criteria down the road, we encourage you to reapply.
