Kim Barker is a reporter on the Metro desk at The New York Times who specializes in investigative reporting and narrative writing. She wrote the book, The Taliban Shuffle, about her experiences reporting in Pakistan and Afghanistan, which was produced into a movie starring Tina Fey, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
Somini Sengupta covers the United Nations at The New York Times and served as the newspaper's New Delhi bureau chief from 2005-2009. She wrote a book, The End of Karma, profiling seven young Indians that illustrates the ways in which the state is failing its youth.
In her more than four decades with the AP, she has worked on every continent except Antarctica covering wars, famines, nuclear issues and political upheavals. Lederer is also co-author of a book reported from her days in Viet Nam entitled "War Torn: Stories of War from Women Who Covered Vietnam."
